Friend of Gameplaywright Josh Roby has just launched Rooksbridge, a series of linked fantasy short stories that he’ll publish, one a month, in a variety of formats including PDFs formatted for print, screen, and iPhone; spoken-word mp3s; and what are presumably POD physical chapbooks. The first two installments are available now.
Josh writes:
The idea is that it’s “Television You Can Read.” The stories are set in a fantastic and dangerous world of knights and sorcerers, and there’s also a lot of chewy politics and romance and personal triumphs… in other words, lots of story. The stories are available as little books, as mp3 audiobooks, and as digital files, and I’m pricing them nice and low at just a couple bucks. If you’d like to see what one looks like, the first one is a free download.
You may recognize Josh’s name from his fine indie games such as Full Light, Full Steam and Sons of Liberty (“the only roleplaying game of freedom and badassery”). You may remember the card mockups he produced, in a few scant hours, upon my posting of the rules and customs for playing the game.
In any case, get thee to Rooksbridge! I suspect you won’t be disappointed.
